I want to thank everybody who dropped a comment in my previous journal about boundaries in art ( [link] ). It's really interesting for me to know what you think.

Now I am going to tell you about my personal "supertaboos" in art and in simple pics production for wide public.

The motto "There are no boundaries in art" sounds very strangely for me. Because I think "No boundaries - no art (and even primitive culture)". Even animals have taboos. The only living objects without limits are cells of cancerous growth

The art and any creative activity is a play with boundaries and limits, it's essential. Just everybody has own system of limitations and own goal of this play. Great artist is a great manipulator or even creator of new limitations. Limitations, boundaries, taboos are main subject of art, neither hindrance, nor "norma".

My personal taboos:
1) Evident ugliness. But I am ready to work with ugliness to emphasize the beauty.
2) All the rest: offence and humiliation, violence, gore, hard porn, etc, etc are senseless, if the goal is an еpatage only. Attention whores are sick, they don't break limits, they are enclosed in limits of their egoism and they have nothing to say, so they try to break something, because they cannot create something. But I can imagine somebody (or I) can use all this stuff if there is a serious message which demands hard media.
